It's funny, I condier Daikaiju or Kaiju to be Japan's new Yokai of the cinema age, in much the same way comic book super heroes are considered the new age Greek Gods. And then you have Daimajin, who while not actually from Japanese folklore, is clearly inspired by them (there are living stone/statue creatures in some of Japan's myths) as he looks like something from a Japanese legend. So much so he was put in the new Youkai Wars movie, "Youkai Wars: Guardians", and he looks like he belongs.

Also I know the poster says "Wrath of Daimajin" but this movie has like several titles and in some cases the second movie, Return of Daimajin", is called "Wrath of Daimajin" and this has caused confusion in the past with even DVD boxsets mixing up which movie is second and third. So I went with one of the title names that would cause less confusion and I believe this is the international title.

Well, someone said kaijuu are pretty much the modern day fire breathing monster or dragon. Fire was one of the most destructive things people knew back in those days. Now one of the most destructive things we know is nuclear weapons so we evolved the fire breathing dragon into radiation beam spitting dragons.
