The ending that should have happened

Honestly, there are 2 of 3 endings I would have loved. The ending where Nia DOESN'T stop existing would be great. Another great ending would be Simon venturing off to conquer all other Spiral Races and become the Spiral Nemesis after Nia died, ala the opening scene to the series, which was suppose to be a vision of the future the Anti-Spiral presented to Lord Genome. Of course, Simon denied that future, and went on to claim his own tomorrow, but I would rather it have been a really happy ending or a sort of epic evil ending than a just plain depressing tragedy ending. Did it even need to be tragic? No. They just made it a tragedy because they thought it was neat or something.

I'd just like to explain how Gainax does endings.

THEY'RE ALL DEPRESSING. It's almost their trademark by now. Hell, they've earned themselves a trope.

The second movie actually had a logical possibility for a happy ending. After the Grand Zamboa dismembered the Tengen Toppa GL everyone broke up into individual mechas, indicating that they gained spiral-power. That would mean that Nia could sustain without the aid of the Antispiral and that Viral could reproduce. But no.
God-damnit, Gainax.

Allow me to slightly correct myself. It didn't indicate that EVERYONE gained spiral-power, only Nia and Viral.
