Well, looks like a fox to me. More specifically, a servant of Inari, which are typically portrayed as pure white foxes.
Never heard of a japanese demon cat being pure white. Besides, the tail is the wrong shape for it to be a demon cat.

It's Madare from Natsume Yuujinchou. Madare is an ayakashi, who takes the form of a lucky cat. He often protests that he's not a cat, despite being enthralled by cat's toys.
I don't remember the story ever actually addressing whether or not he's actually a cat, or the resemblance of this form to a fox - as far as I recall, without fully finishing the story, it was left unknown.
