And trying to destroy an active nuclear reactor was insane. Yes the plan was to capture shut down the city's power but this was has shown if they can't capture something they'll just destroy it.
As for the Antonov AN-225, there is a framework from a second unfinished one. Maybe they can finish it after repairing the cities from all the war damage.
