Actually, Crona's gender is unspecified. Neither girl nor boy. The dubbed version just uses he and him so it's not so confusing.

Let me see if i can help fix the situation. In English, there is only "He" and "She" however in other languages, such as Japanese, there is a word that means "nether and both genders at the same time." This is used for Crona, it's up to the people who sub or dub in English to decide rather or not they wish to use "Male" or "Female" for the character. I propose someone go to 4Chan and join a group there to change English and allow a 3rd word for the "Nether and Both at the same time" gender. Because we all know, if 4chan says something, it's FUCK LAW!>O
