This reminds me of the German song Das letzte Streichholz (the last matchstick). It's about a girl that gets abused by her stepmother and her children and her dad does nothing... She burns everything down to show them the true meaning of pain... (it is implied that she was prepared to die in the fire, as she destroyed her favorite toy before lighting the match)
