i hate how they say aeris the name is aerith and fucking websites get the fucking name wrong if they do that on purpose well then they're BASTERDS if it accidental well then they're still fucking BASTERDS because its not hard to know aeriths name

but like other words with the "th" combo, the Japanese pronounce it like an "s", so it comes out Aer-ees

In the non-Japanese releases, when prompted to actually name the character in question, the name presented by default is "Aeris". However, if you look in the code before meeting her, the name is actually presented as "Aerith". Further, the name in the Japanese release is more accurately translated as "Aerith", and in all other officially released and endorsed Compilation of Final Fantasy VII content, her name is spelled "Aerith" rather than "Aeris". It's quite clear, therefore, that the name "Aeris" was simply a mistranslation.
