She has the shield on the right arm, but her sword on the left side, wonder how she is gonna draw it.

note her spear. the sword is more of a back up weapon, in case she is disarmed or something. it has to be on her left side since she is right handed. you can tell she is right handed because, as a pikemen, she has an important role defending against enemy Calvary and you want your shield in your dominant hand when in a defensive position.

or at least that would be my interpretation.

Uh, no. Your dominant arm would be used mostly for offensive tactics. The non-dominant arm is used for defensive because you can brace it against your body to cushion most blows. Despite hearsay about how the non-dominant arm can be surprisingly stronger than the dominant arm since one doesn't use the former as much as the latter, using your dominant arm as a defensive measure and your non-dominant arm as an offensive measure wouldn't be as effective as vice-versa. It would be like a right-handed person (who has never once in their life used their left hand for right-hand purposes) using their left hand to write an entire sentence in cursive.

Actually, it seems like most people had the sword on the same side as their sword hand, could draw it much easier from behind a shield and without risking to cut your horse
