Korobov TKB-022PM (1961)

One of the works designed by Hermann A. Kolobov to campaign for a new Soviet assault rifle research program in the 1960s. The caliber 7.62mm M43, 30 rounds of magazines for ammunition, not only adopted the unsupported design that was very unusual at the time, but also used a large number of engineering plastics as the main body. The structure is a vertical up-and-down lock of the bolt, which does not require the rear space of the receiver, so the position of the magazine is very backward, and the shell is thrown from the ejection port above the muzzle after shooting. Although this gun is very good in shooting accuracy and reliability, they were strongly opposed by conservative officers of the Soviet Army, because they were worried that the whole gun would be light weight and the durability of engineering plastics, and they would only live in the prototype gun in the end stage.

Yeah uh... where the bolt tho. This would not work at all.

It's a real prototype that actually worked, here's an animation explaining how it worked.

This does not look very fun to shoot ngl. As someone who's in the armed forces that looks like a yikes to me. But cool concept of an actual weapon.
