She's a "dullahan" and she is NOT a knight. She's a female version of the headless horseman from Irish/Celtic folklore (and American "Sleepy Hollow" fame) and is actually an "unseelie fairie" who portends death for humans. The "Green Knight" from Arthurian legends IS based on the dullahan stories, though. Celty is searching for her head and is starting to feel love for the "jackass", as you call him. She "lives" (for lack of a better term) in his apartment.
