Why is Blue's background green and Green's background blue?

Actually, I think you read the same version as me.
In different translations, the name's for Blue and Green are switched.
It's just more popular THIS way though :p
(I personally like Blue as the rival though)

Ok its like this:
Blue´s Japanese name is Green and Green´s Japanese name is Blue.
Dunno why They translated it like that. O_o

Japan started with Red and Green version. That's why their rival's "Green"

Everyone else got Red and Blue. He's "Blue" in our media.

The English released only three games for the First Generation. That's Red, Blue and Yellow.

Japan (the place where Pokemon came from) originally had four games.
That's Red, Green, Blue and Yellow.

They had a sketch/blueprint of a female starter with a Blastoise but they scrapped her out of the game - but the manga didn't scrap her.

*Heck. The manga even added Yellow and she was never part of the games. >.>*
