Well, Vanille is the only one who gets the "Death" spell ability and when you fight the tough enemies you usually have to spam it for a while, so I think she's just spamming death at Hope/Lighting/both. As for the reason, I'm not sure. If it were me, it'd be directed at Hope.

True, FFXIII was a lot of mashing A/X, but the paradigm shifts add another depth of strategy to the game, necessary for a lot of fights. But I haven't used Death once yet, and I'm done with the story and halfway through the marks.

And yes, Hope was a pansy character, but crushes everyone else in terms of magical abilities. But whatever... Funny pic tho.

You use death mostly on this one ungodly huge thing after the game that can kill you in one or two... stomps
you take out its legs with vanille's summon and spam death until it works or it gets up and kills you. rinse lather and repeat. XD

People saying that mashing X is exclusive to FF13 must have never played any of the previous games. 12 and 13 are by far the hardest numbered FFs. The rest are piss easy sans secret bosses
