Blastoise is from the first pokemon and he is classified as a Shellfish pokemon...AND YOU KNOW THAT A SHELLFISH AINT A TURTLE! >:O

Actually it is based on the story in Japan. Long ago the emperor ordered the best artist in the kingdom to draw a snake and the winner would be rewarded half the kingdom. On the day of the contest a great artist student came and started to work. Being smug he worked fast and was done first, however wanting to show of he went back to his work and added legs to the snake before handing it to the emperor. When the emperor saw it he disqualified the artist because it was no longer a snake
