It is a shame King Kong's copyright is a minefield to navigate and half the times someone got lucky enough to make a new movie they're scared to try something new and just remake the 1933 story. Climb building, get shot, fall to death. I've seen people say Kong: Skull Island was not a good King Kong movie. I respect the opinion but disagree. It was refreshing to see them try something different since King Kong Lives.
All the other giant movie monsters he inspired have been allowed to evolve and have their character develop, change and grow over time. He is so influential to the daikaiju genre he has retroactively been made into an honorary daikaiju three separate times when he originally wasn't one. So let King Kong go on adventures, let him save the world from a mad scientists or evil alien invaders, let him be a hero, villain or something in between. For crying out loud the copyright has gotten so ridiculous they can't even even use the "King" part of his name in the MonsterVerse.
King Kong should really have more unique stories under his belt and not have half of his career be remakes or retellings. One of the world's greatest monster icons deserves better and in some alternate reality he has more movies where he goes on crazy adventures.

If it helps, King Kong also had a few cartoon shows that did different things. One of the movies was even based on one of those cartoons! (King Kong Escapes)
But yeah, I agree. Kong deserved to evolve. It’s just a shame that people get worried about it with all the issues. The only remake intended to be one from the start being Peter Jackson’s.

Yeah, I know he has an animated movie where he goes to Atlantis so there's that, that's cool. And yeah that is a pretty dumb thing for that person to complain about, he's had two remakes already, if you are just gonna make a 3rd remake then don't even bother making a movie at all.
