I think it's a parody on the pokemon adventure's fusionated birds (commonly known as Zapmolcuno). Although most of the parts are from legendary birds...

Which, sorry to say, was a stupid idea even there. If this were somehow Yu-Gi-Oh, slapping heads together and saying "Fusion!" is still uncreative and dumb.

I have no idea why they pursued that story idea of gym badges with 'special powers' and fusing legendaries. Yeah, the manga's pretty good, but some of the crap it shovels around...
