I keep seeing people talking trash on Shenji. If you think he was weak, you seriously misunderstood the anime. There is a serious line that divides out conscious and unconscious mind. Imagine if there wasn't? What would you be capable of? Fighting demons? Defying your instincts? True salvation? Shenji achieves more than almost any other protagonist in literature and entertainment pure on conceptual gravitas. Don't believe me? Watch Evan drunk. Similar effects achieved with Gurren Laggan.
