Interesting, I barely know French but from American pop culture I already know "petit", "mon", and "cheri". :-)

I think the context is that he didn't know she was so small, but she's not a kid (just a 'little person').

I think French is as subject to butchery as English and if taken exactly as read it's an "All your base are belong to us" sitch. Mon petit chéri is what they meant.
