The girl is a hermaphrodite in the game lore. Also, as it actually contains gameplay and pretty advanced world theory for a console game, most Final Fantasy kiddies probably won't relate.

she has a penis in the official game lore. It was a curse put on her/possession by a shade in one of the versions and I believe (not 100% sure) that it was a birth defect in the other, but yes she does have a penis.

I personally like the idea of the Gestalt version of Nier. I'm sick of every main character in the "good RPGs" looking like a sissy boy, Cloud and Squall to name a few. The fact that they made the main character 40 somethin years old and STILL able to kick ass shows that they made the game to challenge the crowd, and you know what happend? Replicant came out. it showed just how shallow gamers are. Fuck the crowd, gimme more Nier Gestalt.

She is a girl who was raised by her grandma till their home was attacked by a shade who killed her grandmother, and left her for dead. Before she died a different shade posesed her and healed her because he wanted her body, and she wanted the power to revenge her grandmother. She fights the shade for controle. There, now we know the trouth, and i played this yesterday and read all this in game.
