Ya gotta take their fight with the Pacifista with a grain of salt. Zoro went through multiple beatings on Thriller Bark, and wasn't anywhere close to fighting fir when he fought that thing. If all three were fighting at their best, I don't think the Pacifista woulda stood a chance.

I guess the story will eventually answer that one for us.
