You know, I think Miku (The whole Vocaloid project) may just be one of the keys to a true AI, at least a fraction of it. Namely, the vocaloid project would be part of the relationship factor, i.e. having the AI communicate with us.

I believe you speak the truth. The Vocaloid project has become very advanced, and may actually evolve into something that will become a true AI

Disagree. Vocaloids are voice synthesizers, and cannot 'think' for themselves. As a method for an AI to communicate with us using voice, yes, Vocaloids may become that, but as a truly self-aware AI? I don't think so.

Eventually, the AI tech will become mature enough, and you might even be able to buy AI's for any popular character you want :)

Besides, there are plans for 2020 to simulate human brain, so that's going to be a major revelation as to how brains work. Not only that, but will probably also be useful for VR (neurological interface), which by the way, a conference was held for already, Luckey participated.
