It hasn't been confirmed that he is the rival, everyone just assume him to be...I personally think he is kinda bland but that is just my opinion.

The green hair guy seems more like he'd be the Region Campion instead of a rival. Like, he seem's older then the main characters.

cheren and belle get the other two starters. you never meet the opposite gender character and N doesnt have any starters
