It seems like its electric.
The pedals spin a Dyno/battery in the black box in the center joint of the frame, which sends power via cable to the rear wheel.
The propulsion motor is in the wheel hub of the rear wheel and receives cable and power from the battery.
If it was geared, the pedals would turn a pinion, *small Gear* and spin the rear part of the frame (large idler gear), and then spin the rear wheel. The rear wheel has geared teeth on the outside of its rim, and they are spun the same direction as the pedals.
The frame makes that kind of drive impossible though, and would require a different frame on the rear half.
