Well, the artist must be a native Japanese.
Above Benkei's left hand, within a eggplant(?) shape,
it says "Xi er wo..." or something in Chinese,
but the Chinese characters in Japanese:
"Gi - Ru (or Ryu)- Ga- Me- Shu"
which is transliterated from "Gilgamesh".
