After meeting lady Hilda, she ordered Monika to go, for the first time since she got there, to outside of the castle, to the forest nearby to pick magic mushrooms to perfect her potion.
Monika, alongside Gaabizeth, a red haired half elf girl and a green haired Rhea (artificial elf like creatured genetically engineered to enjoy being slaves) went mushroom collecting, Hilda's magic protects them from any danger.
while working, Monika and Gaabizeth got to know each other better, Monika even told her about Aya.
The goblin girl told her that she will help her as much as she can, but it wont be easy to find an opportunity to bargain with lady Hilda for Monika's freedom, not as long as they don't know what she would want in return, or if she would agree with the deal in the first place.

Oh ho, has Monika found a friend who can help the Japanese woman? I think it's good that new slave girls should be led by those with more experience.

I also find this breed interesting, which was specifically created as a slave breed, can you tell us more about it?

About Rheas, rheas are a reminder of the elves' forgotten dark history of conquest against their kin.
Long ago, the high elves waged war against the "inferior" forest elves, they raided and enslaved them them all. High elves have superior magic and more advanced technology after all.

Fearing that the forest elves might rebel against them, the high elves started doing experiments on some of them, using a mix of selective breeding and genetic engineering, the high elves created the rhea race, magical, but submissive by nature, they found joy in serving their masters.

Time later, the high elves waged war against humans, however, this was a huge mistake, they underestimated humans, but they did not take in account humanity's superiority in weaponry and warfare.

The high elves were defeated and enslaved, their magic knowledge was taken and the rheas were freed.

The rheas, however, couldn't handle being free, so they sold themselves into slavery once again, ready to serve new masters while the high elves are paying retribution for what they did to the forest elves, now without any possibility to escape due to the newly developed slave seal created by humans using the high elves' knowledge.

Then the high elves created this slave race and later became slaves of humans themselves, well that's how it can work. I would say equal justice.


Do people actually rule over this entire world? Or are there still places where other races have the upper hand?

Humans rule most of the surface world, though they were smart enough to make alliances with other races instead of waging war with them.
They obtain their slaves through trading with other races, specially with the drows of the underworld or through summoning like with Monika and Aya.
