Pointless censoring is there because of japanese law. Japs are allowed to draw, photo or depict almost any kind of material they want, but law says that sex organs must be censored. Afaik there's no specifics saying to what degree, so a lot of nice artists will just put in a token censor bar that slightly tints the image or a small spot with mosaics. The law has been obeyed and you still get to fap mostly undistracted.
