I'm sorry if this is a retarted question, but her hand cannon is NOT a prostises right, as in she did not lose her arm. well part of it. It's just a weapon right, again, sorry I only played up to Metroid Prime 2

No, her arm cannon is an attachment for her suit, as it goes over her arm. This is even proven if you use X-Ray Visor while aiming your gun, you'll see her hand holding what seems to be a trigger beneath her finger.

Actually, there is no trigger, her hand is making different formations with her fingers - this is how she changes which beam she uses. I'm assuming the shooting is done by the movement of her wrist, or something...

This may be REALLY late, but there is a trigger as seen in Prime..as said, use the X-Ray visor and fire a shoot, a finger or two would appear to pull something with each shot.
