Note: Last Order is self-perpetuating bullshit

Lol, last order is a good add-on to the series. The only problem with it is that its more side-story/explaining and ridiculous physics.

Whats the saddest part is that they haven't made an anime, only a one-episode tribute, which is pretty sad in itself because the series really takes off after that.

>ridiculous physics.

Implying magnetic waves karate and and vampire plasma dual sword wielding kung fu isn't awesome.

Anon2, that was a two-episode OVA series, but a agree they should've done more. And the new Cameron movie's gonna be shit b/c he's focusing on the Motorball stuff (personally for me that was the weakest arc, it's saving points were Alita and Jasugen pwning her team in a split-second x3).

Anyway, new desktop image oom here; anon1 it'd be interesting (and funny) to hear you defend that claim.

What I love about Alita is that, strong as she is, her world is so very fragile. Everything is wrought with pain, if you cut deep enough, and through this, you see just how beautiful she really is a character to make the choices she makes. Her skills are never outweighed by the measurement of her growth, and I always felt that whatever she encountered was a hurdle she faced not because of plot, but because there was something more waiting to unfold from it.

It took time to get many of the answers I wanted about her and her world. The science was sometimes a bit wacky and far-fetched, but it never felt out of place with the actual lore, and I didn't feel forced to understand it in order to enjoy most scenes. But the concepts were always exciting to see presented, even if some may not have enjoyed the story going that direction.

The art always felt fluid, with exceptions that didn't detour from me continuing the read. The humor was cute, easy to swallow, and in line with the characters involved at the time. When it did something off the wall, or put up a wild idea/character, I sometimes felt I was getting a peek at a story that could have been its own manga by itself.

This can be good or bad, depending on your style of preference. In my case, I felt rewarded for my patience because Alita and those around her always felt natural to the world itself. The vampire bit was a bit of a stretch, but really, I'd say that even something in that category put itself together just fine. I certainly didn't think the story itself suffered because of it. I admired the courage to take that road and was happy to ride along until I was on more familiar turf.

I'm speaking strictly about the manga here. The anime movie and such is not really something I'd go on about, except to say they were also good. Worth a watch, and they didn't stray.

I dunno... Duke... Gunnm is awesome for me. One of my all time favorite mangas. It doesn't do anything so well that I'd say it's for everyone. But from the very start, I knew I was getting in to a story that wasn't going to leave me hanging, you know... so many years later... I could and will read it again.

I came for the octolips. I stayed for the Panzer Kunst.
