Actually, he would only need two pokemon at the most to eliminate charizard. That's most likely a technician scyther with Bullet Punch, which, if you do some research, is one of the strongest priority moves in the game. Scizor also has a tremendous attack stat. Scizor would get the ineffective bullet punch in and deal about 25%-30% of Charizard's hp bar in damage. You strike me as the kind of trainer who would teach your charizard Blast Burn for no reason other than you think it's powerful. Well, he switches in galvantula, which is ELECTRIC. Charizard is fire/FLYING. If they went all speed on training the Galvantula, it's entirely possible that a STABbed Discharge or Thunderbolt could obliterate charizard in one blast. Certainly fire is a type he hasn't planned for well, but flying? Oh, yes.

A max speed, max Sp. Attack Compoundeyes Galvantula laughs right in the face of any Charizard. I don't see many Charizard's able to stand up to 91% accurate STAB Thunder.
