I think Akane's temper is mostly due to frustration. She grows her hair out because she has a crush on Dr. Tofu but he loves Kasumi instead. Kuno and the other boys at school compete for her every morning even though she has no intention of dating any of them. Nabiki sells candid photos of her without permission. Ranma's usually an insensitive jackass. The list goes on.

the anon above me only watched like 10 episodes ^
im currently on episode 28 and ranma is just annoyed about being a girl basically.. and yes ranma is obviously in love with akane, hes just unable to admit it, nor does he know how to show it, so he picks on her instead
