Desukan and Desumasu are prime examples of how Gamefreak is willing to turn morbid and terrifying things into Pokemon. At first, I didn't know what Desumasu was based on...

In this picture, we see Wicked King Deathkan holding one of his aides hostage, not knowing that he's about to get sealed for forever, sadly taking his aide with him.

This actually isn't unusual, and is fitting for actual Egyptian Pharaohs. When a Pharaoh is interred into his pyramid tomb, he's sealed in with 'everything he shall need in the afterlife.'

This includes boats, food, mummified pets, home furnishings, statuary... and still-living slaves. Indeed, the last step, the sealing of the door to the sarcophagus room, is done by slaves from inside. They literally wall themselves in to die with their Pharaoh.
