The reason it's so big on Christmas is because of the relentless as campaigns of KFC in Japan during the 1960's and 1970's to establish themselves in the country. As it turns out it worked marvelously due to its catchiness and the influence of American soldiers stationed in the country. So now instead of a Christmas ham or great feast, the Japanese have adopted KFC as the go to meal for the holidays. God bless good old fashioned American commercialism! :D
