It's weird. I wrote a story last night about a young woman in much the same situation. Mostly it was about how awkward every-day things like using the toilet or watching TV become when your head and neck are separated.

If she was freshly decapitated there would be a fountain of blood spewing everywhere until there was not enough blood to come out or the neck was cauterized. This is obviously the work of a magician. The bandages are just a cover up.
