Surprise surprise, Hollywood watches a Godzilla movie actually made in Japan and it immediately wins an Oscar.

Kinda hard to watch Legendary Godzilla now that TOHO Godzilla is starting to become accessible. Not unlike the "subs vs. dubs" debate. It's not that dubs are bad, but if you've watched a thing in another language that version will constantly be in the back of your mind, constantly raising comparison and contrast. If I watch a Legendary Godzilla, I'm gonna constantly be like "See, now, I'm very aware of how different this is from the Japanese original."
