@Anon4 Actually the Orange Islands is a filler arc, but is completely canon since it affected the rest of the series like Tracy, Ash catching Snorlax and Charizard obeying Ash. Lapas on the other hand, I'm not even sure we know the gender.

well, they probably made it somewhat canon but other parts were not canon. lapras was most likely a female.

Lapras was male. It said so at least once in the episode Ash was returning it to the wild it was a he, I'm pretty sure. And they also called it the mother Lapras' son.
