Someone on GameFAQs asked if Monster Hunter was like Pokemon. The the short answer is basically, "Maybe, does Ash violently butcher the random monsters he meets and make new hats out of them? 'cause in Monster Hunter, 'collecting' means wearing them as a new suit of armor."
