Don't worry about that, it's not actually a mantis. It's a Plant mimicking a mantis, hence it's name Lurantis (Lure), and it's pre-evo's name Fomantii (faux/fake +mantis), it's not even a bug type.

I wanna add something, too! The real life bug it's based on is the Orchid Mantis, which is a BUG mimicking a PLANT.

But Gamefreak made Lurantis even MORE contrarian by making it a PLANT that mimics a BUG! Its so meta, I love it...and I love tsundere Lurantis depictions c:
