The girl in the beach ball scenario isn't wearing earrings. It could still be the same girl, but the artist hasn't mentioned anything indicating this, so it might just be some other girl who looks familiar.

The artist has also said that he likes tomboys, so he probably just likes to draw characters in this style,.
